TL;DR: Jennifer found ClearList through ChatGPT on a Sunday night, listed 75 things from her home in the Mid-Atlantic in under three hours, and had 50 of them marked sold within a week. She kept the AI's suggested price on 70 of her 76 items.
Jennifer is not her real name. I changed it, and left out identifying details like her town and exact dates, to protect her privacy. The numbers are hers.
Most people picture a moving sale as a weekend of work: photographing everything, writing descriptions, looking up what each thing is worth.
Jennifer did hers on a Sunday night.
She came to ClearList from a ChatGPT answer. She signed up in the late evening, and by just after midnight her sale page was live with 75 items on it. Each one had a title, a description, a condition and a price.
The numbers
| Items listed | 76 |
| Listed on the first night | 75, in under three hours |
| Items marked sold within a week | 50 (66%) |
| Asking prices of what sold | $4,661 |
| Asking prices of everything listed | $6,402 |
| Items she kept the AI's price on | 70 of 76 |
| Listed | one Sunday evening, fall 2026 |
| 50 marked sold by | the following weekend |
"Sold" here means Jennifer marked the item sold on her page. Prices are asking prices. What buyers paid at pickup may differ.
What she was selling
Jennifer's sale was mostly the things that make a house look finished, the pieces people struggle to price:
- 33 decor pieces: mirrors, rugs, lamps, wall art
- 32 pieces of furniture: dressers, accent tables, chairs, a secretary desk, a bed
- outdoor and kitchen items
Decor is the category sellers tend to skip, because pricing a carved mirror or a runner rug feels like guesswork. Jennifer listed all of it, and 24 of her 33 decor pieces sold. Most were priced between $8 and $45.
What sold
| Item | Asking price | Sold? |
|---|---|---|
| Upholstered king bed frame, premium retailer | $900 | Yes |
| Vintage secretary desk with glass hutch | $350 | Yes |
| Nesting coffee table set, premium retailer | $300 | Yes |
| Pair of spool accent armchairs | $300 | Yes |
| Ornate carved wall mirror | $150 | Yes |
| Oval pedestal dining table with rattan chairs | $150 | Yes |
| Vintage 8-drawer painted dresser | $150 | Yes |
| Designer runner rug | $100 | Yes |
| Modular 3-piece sofa, premium retailer | $800 | Not that week |
The pattern: well-priced brand-name and vintage pieces sold. The one large, expensive sofa was still waiting at the end of the week.
What made it work
She did it in one sitting. 75 items in under three hours is less than three minutes per item, with no spreadsheet and no price research.
She trusted the prices. She changed the AI's suggested price on only 6 of her 76 items. Two thirds of her items sold within a week at those prices.
She didn't skip the small stuff. Shower curtains, hand towels, a tea kettle, a $5 tray. Her 33 decor pieces were 43% of everything she listed by count, and 24 of them sold.
Doing the same thing
If your move is close and the house is full:
- Pick one evening and list everything in one go, room by room.
- Include the decor. It's the part most people leave behind, and it sells.
- Keep the suggested prices unless you know better.
- List the small, cheap things too. They're quick to photograph, and they sell.
You can try ClearList with one photo before you decide anything.
