1. Information We Collect

ClearList collects the following information to provide our moving sale platform:

Account information: Email address for authentication and communication.
Listing data: Photos, descriptions, and pricing for items you list for sale.
Location data: City and state you provide when publishing your sale page.
Reservation data: Buyer email addresses and reservation details for item pickups.
Usage data: How you interact with the app to improve our services (only if you consent — see Section 4).

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your seller account.
To generate listings from your photos using automated analysis.
To facilitate reservations and buyer-seller communication.
To send transactional emails (reservation confirmations, pickup scheduling).
To process payments for premium features.
To understand how the platform is used and fix issues (with your consent).

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate ClearList:

Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, and file storage.
Google Gemini: Automated item analysis and listing generation.
Stripe: Payment processing for premium features.
Resend: Transactional email delivery.
Vercel: Application hosting.
PostHog: Analytics — helps us understand which features work well and where users get stuck. Only active if you consent. See Section 4.
Sentry: Error tracking — catches crashes and bugs so we can fix them. Only active if you consent. See Section 4.

4. Cookies & Analytics

ClearList uses cookies and similar technologies only with your explicit consent. When you first visit, we ask whether you're okay with analytics cookies. You can accept or decline — the platform works either way.

What we use (if you consent)

PostHog (analytics): Tracks page views and feature usage so we can understand if ClearList is serving you well. PostHog sets a cookie to remember your session. We do not sell or share this data with advertisers. We do not track you across other websites.
Sentry (error tracking): Captures error reports when something breaks, so we can fix bugs quickly. Sentry may set cookies for session replay (recording what happened before a crash). No personal information is stored — we explicitly disable PII collection.

Essential storage (no consent needed)

Firebase Authentication: Uses localStorage (not cookies) to keep you logged in. This is essential for the app to work and is not used for tracking.
Cookie consent preference:We store your accept/decline choice in localStorage so we don't ask again on every visit.

Changing your mind

You can change your cookie preference at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for clearlist.me, which will show the consent banner again on your next visit. You can also contact us at privacy@clearlist.me and we'll help you.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for the duration of your active account. Listing data is retained until you manually delete items or your account. You may request complete deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.

Analytics data (PostHog) is automatically deleted after 12 months. Error reports (Sentry) are automatically deleted after 90 days.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), encrypted storage of sensitive tokens (AES-256-GCM), and secure authentication via passwordless email verification codes.

7. International Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

Legal basis: We process your data based on consent (analytics cookies), contractual necessity (account management, listing creation), and legitimate interest (essential security and fraud prevention).
Data transfers: Your data may be processed in the United States by our service providers (Firebase, PostHog, Sentry, Vercel). These providers use standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
Right to object: You can decline analytics cookies, and the platform works without them. You can also request data portability or restriction of processing.

8. California Users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. ClearList does not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data and account.
Decline analytics cookies (the platform works without them).
Disconnect third-party services (Google Calendar) at any time.
Export your listing data.
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
